Journalists meet to vulgarize the draft code of ethics for reporting gender base violence

 

Journalists in bamenda have met in a one day training workshop for them to do an overview of the already drafted Media code of ethics in reporting on gender base violence. They converge in bamenda at blue pearl hotel on Thursday 09, with over 30 media practitioners answering present. 

The event which was organized by doctors of the world is aimed at including the draft code of ethics for reporting on gender base violence in the ethics of journalism through the ministry of communication. 

According to the document, which journalists have unanimously agreed on, its therefore to serve as a working guide for journalists, public speakers, graphic designers, media content builders and any other person whose work is related to the gathering, treatment and dissemination of information. 

The code spells out some standards to follow in the process of disseminating gender base stories and also for media actors to apply the provisions of the guidelines at different stages of their interventions. 

"This is a 32 months project and it's the continuation of the project that started in 2018 and ended in March 2021 due to crisis in the northwest region. This however pushed the project functionality to mbouda in the west region before returning it back to bamenda now".  Says Singeh Helen

ATTACK ON MINISTER: NORTH WEST YOUTHS MARCH AGAINST VIOLENCE, DEMAND REPATRIATION OF ATTACKERS

Youths from the North West Region staged a peaceful protest in Bamenda on Friday March 14, 2025, condemning recent violent attacks on the Minister of Youth Affairs and Civic Education and the Cameroonian Ambassador to Belgium.
