GAGEAD, Partners strengthen capacity of grassroots women in peace building.

 Some grassroots women from the 7 divisions in the NW region gathered at ICONAH CENTER, NKWEN on February 3, to strengthen their capacities for effective leadership and meaningful participation in peace processes.

GAGEAD, Centre for Advocacy in Gender Equality and Action for Development and SNWOT, South West North West Women Taskforce amongst other key stakeholders in peace building are targeting women and making them part of the peace building processes in a more sustainable approach, because they see women in the positions of where the burden of conflict is heavier.Therefor this workshop is organize to build their capacities in communication, advocacy, strategies for community engagement, leadership and the notion of conflict and women in peace building. 

Activities unfolding during the workshop 

Women and girls in the north west and south west region suffer Violence on a daily basis as the armed conflict unfolds. This is why GAGEAD and partners held a focus group discussion with rural women to identify their challenges in peace building process and help them to become solution to the problems they are facing in their communities. 

GAGEAD told the media that, this come together is a follow up of national women convention that held in Yaounde a few months ago. "The objective of this program is to raise grassroots women awareness of the outcome of the women convention in Yaounde and to find out what their challenges are in peace building as well as developed their capacities in those areas"

According to Delphine Mbongue, participant at the workshop says she have learn different communication skills, which message to send out to the audience, and how to engage with different people like stakeholders in the community, government officials to advocate for peace. "I also learn how to overcome challenges faced and this is an opportunity to network with colleagues and see how we can promote peace"
