Celebrating World Press Freedom Day, CJTU partners with NWCA

The North West Cooperative Association, NWCA, on the occasion of the celebration of 2022 World Press Freedom Day, WPFD, announced its partnership with Cameroon journalists trade union, CJTU, North West, says it is only through the press that they can be visible.

Mathew Ngangwa Mbibe, chief of administration and personnel at NWCA Ltd, Speaking shortly after the celebration, challenged the press to carry-on their tasks which they have been doing, "I understand that the press in a country like our own, they are consider as the 4th arm of the government. We will like to work with the press as a partner beginning from today", he added.

Ignatius Nji, president of Cameroon journalists trade union NW, says they celebrated WPFD at North West Cooperative Association to sell their image and product. He added that NWCA is not only about processing coffee and exporting the beans to other countries but it has a lot of innovations and urge journalists to promote consumption of cola coffee.

In his message commomerating the 2022 world press freedom day with the theme "Journalism Under Digital Siege", he made it clear that as a trade union, they will not kill journalism in the NW and SW regions of Cameroon.
Njeshu Godlove, plant engineer at NWCA outlined some challenges faced in marketing their association beginning from inferiority complex, says Cameroonians find it very difficult to consume home made products and do not value home production. He however encourage Cameroonians to drink cola coffee which have a lot of health benefits.

During the celebration, Dr Mbamjo Herman of the university of Bamenda drilled journalists on media ethics and the principles governing the practice of journalism in Cameroon. He therefore urge journalists to be resilient in reporting. He emphasized that section 305 of the Cameroon penal code stimulate 2 to 5 million fine if you defame someone's character.
